Trying to outdo yourself
As we grow older, there are times where we actually do need to outgrow ourselves. Things like, learn how to stand on two feet by tiny little self, try to hold a pencil, a pen, try to write, try to remember difficult chinese characters and, try to be independent. As a young adult, we start to make our own decisions, often wrong ones and unfortunately, we do no heed in guidance from our elders. Nevertheless, we grow through making mistakes and often, in this kind society, many will attempt to understand and forgive.
I am not a perfectionist by right, nor a slave driver by left. It's just that, I could not get over 2 things that is impairing my growth as an individual. The first being, the fear of driving alone by myself on the busy road. The second, the fear of public speaking in front of a crowd. Yet, deep inside my heart, I knew I could do it. But the timid self of mine was afraid to do anything that brings me out of my comfort zone. Comfort zone. The area where most people are very familiar with and not step out of because of the unknown. Because of the unknown or because that they are afraid, afraid of facing their own fears of challengers, own fear of failure. But then again, if you do not try, you will not know. Even if you failed, at least you known that you had tried and you CAN LEARN from failures. They are such a good teaching tool! Well, enough said. Back to my own fear... I think I do need some inner strength to overcome.. Labels: thoughts |
